A man of many talents
One of the things you notice about news reporting when you have expertise in any field being reported on is how easy it is, and frequent, that they get little things (or big ones) wrong.
Instapundit snarked yesterday about Limbaugh being awkward; I find this especially happens when he tries to discuss technical legal issues.
So this may be unfair, but nonetheless, NPR this morning did a piece on Protestant historians arguing for a greater role for religion in the governing sphere. For NPR, it wasn't bad, though it still ended up being at least partly a hit piece.
What really caught me though, was when they sought out the opposing expert, as they should have, in this case Marci Hamilton at Benjamin Cardozo School of Law. Professor Hamilton's "proof" that the Protestant view was "wrong" was that there are friezes in the Supreme Court hearing room showing Moses, Hammurabi and all sorts of lawgivers.
All I can say is I'll bet John Marshall himself carved those things. I wonder how you cite-check them?
