I think if you've been educated at more than one Top-25 institution and you have sufficient leisure time to blog regularly, you are safely in the "elite" or "elites." In Jackson, Mississippi, the "Elite" Restaurant rhymes with "Delight." That might be another way you can tell.

Does that make me elite or effete?
The Jackson story reminds me of Hyde Park, Illinois, where "Valois" rhymes with "Ida Noyes" (and, to some, "Illinois").
