The Big One (Till, You Know)

Today's game with Michigan State is the biggest this season so far. It's certainly the biggest for MSU, who've had a rotten year.

The Spartans have been the mirror image of the Wolverines--they started great and have fallen apart. The only way to salvage their season is to beat Michigan, and with the game in East Lansing, they've got a fair chance.

I still have to go with the Wolverines, especially if Hart is healthy, but I'm sure nervous. If Michigan can just get back to Ann Arbor for the OSU game with an unbeaten Big Ten record, they'll probably be in the top ten and that game will have the significance it deserves.

I don't know about games deserving significance, but both Hart and Henne are questionable going in today. The big 10 is still very weak. Ohio State is not the best team in the country (no way) -- they've just walloped lousy teams week after week and Michigan is clearly not a top ten team, regardless of what they have done against lousy big ten teams (and Notre Dame and Eastern Michigan) since losing to App. State and Oregon big at home. SEC and PAC 10 teams have been beating each other up, so even though they have one, two, or three losses, they are still clearly better. I'd say that up to eight or nine teams in those two conferences are definitely better than Michigan and probably better than Ohio State. The Big East, ACC, and Big 12 all have better teams also.

Michigan State has a chance today, but they suck.

MSU may suck, but the point is this game is their whole season. Michigan constantly has to face teams that are more up for that game than any other.

If the SEC is so great, I have to ask why their out of conference record is only so-so.
