Messing With Perfection
American Idol is finally down to the final twelve. They're not bad, though so far I'm not seeing that much personality. This week they gave Lennon-McCartney songs a workout. A few were passable, but the trouble with covering Beatles' songs is it's pretty hard to surpass the originals.
PS I was shocked when they voted off stripper David "I Saw Her Standing There" Hernandez, and kept Kristy Lee "countrified 'Eight Days A Week'" Cook.

Hernandez really does have a nice voice. Much stronger than, say, Jason Castro's. But I think AI voters will always prefer a cute young blonde girl.
The AI PTB desperately wanted David Hernandez off. They were sick of the "stripper" headlines and the hypocritical backlash about them keeping David and trashing Frenchie Davis. He played right into their hands with a so-so performance (he wasn't awful, but he could have done better, he does have a nice voice) and the judges buried him. Kristy Lee Cook is the only country singer in the bunch and so has a large fan base that "Carrie"d over from last year.
Ah, conspiracy theories, I love it.
I almost never watch Idol anymore, but I happened to be flipping thru the channels the night that was on and saw Chikezie (sp?) do (I think it's called) She's A Woman. He spiced it up some and all 3 judges loved it. I hated it!

p.s. how about an article on pryor the QB recruit and where (and why) you think he will go?
