Wet And Stringy
I just caught Taco Bell's ad for the "Cheesy Beefy Melt." To paraphrase Pulp Fiction, it may taste like pumpkin pie but I'm never gonna find out. Because just watching the ad, with long, stringy cheese coming out of people's mouths, grosses me out so much I don't even want to drive on the same block as a Taco Bell.

I saw the commercial during SNL on Saturday night (OK I plugged in a little this weekend) and thought it was one of their joke ads until the end, when I was thinking "I bet there's a defamation suit in there somewhere" when it struck me- Taco Bell means this-- the only explanation I can think of is maybe the associates at the ad agencies found a cache of cocaine that had been stashed there back in the 80s. (Now there's a good defamation suit)
"Hey guys! Wouldn't it be funny to make our product look like snot?"
Q: "Hey guys! Isn't it funny to make our product look like boogers?"
A: "No itsnot."
They took a page from food photography trips (that I learned back in the Domino's Pizza days). The way a photo communicates that the cheese is warm and generous is to stretch it. (Did you know back then they made the pizza crust shine by brushing melted mayo on it? Same thing done to hair models back then. Nowadays they use spray-on silcone.)
I don't think even a photography school professor after cocktail hour could find the Taco Bell cheese in this commercial to be "warm and generous"
Now mayonnaise on Pizza? That actually sounds good.
