Rom Bomb

The word is Romney's out. We'll know soon enough. The best argument against him, aside from the Mormon speed bump, is the Dems could use all that footage of Romney and McCain calling each other names.

See the link - apparently its necessary to confirmation to find outif Mitt is telling the truth.

Although teaming with Romney would have been disastrous, I really don't think McCain helped himself with this choice from Ted Stevens-land. He just threw the experience issue out the window and looks to be desperately pandering to disappointed Hillary-backers (with someone who is younger than her, heck younger than Obama, and from what I just read in the MSM, having pretty much completely opposite views)

On the other hand, I don't really see Obama's open combativieness as necessarily helping. I mean he was popular because he seemed to be beyond the partisan bickering.

I don't think the experience issue was going to work. Americans don't respect political experience as it is - the key is to be seen as an outsider. McCain's real claim is "maverick," and Palin fits that game plan.

The argument that has hit Obama most is the "celebrity" label. In the end, I still don't think the VP choice makes much difference to the results. The brilliance of this pick is Sat's headline will not be about Obama, as American's start their Labor Day holiday - it will be McCain and Palin.

Palin could be a detriment, if she fails in the debates or on the campaign trail. But if she is likeable and reasonably clever, she will modestly help McCain.

I hear the Romney and Pawlenty folks are more than a bit peeved to have been passed on in favor of Dan Quayle II.

Dan Quayle II? If the left's attack is going to be that pathetic, Obama can roll up his tent and go home now. Speaking of which, if you want to see a real Dan Quayle, please check out the numerous websites that actually collect all the outrageous mistakes Obama makes on a daily basis, mistakes to outrageous, not mere slip of the lips, that they make Quayle look like a genius.

Dan Quayle in 1988, by the way, had a lot more experience than Obama does now, and he was only running for Vice President. While we're at it, who won that election?

Agreed Sarh Palin is nothing like Dan Quayle in 88- she has far less experience

Almost as little as Obama. Thanks goodness she'll only be Vice President.

Jeez, a bit defensive, are we all? What I meant by DQII that she was a relative unknown with little revelant experience.

Calling someone "Dan Quayle" conjures up something, and it is not about having relatively little experience, or being relatively unknown.

I used the DQ analogy only in the context of Romney and Pawlenty's reaction. (As posted elsewhere, I think Harriet Miers is a far more accurate analogy for Mrs. Palin's selection). Presumably what Mitt and Tim resent would be the same thing the folks who got passed over for DQ resented -- his being an inexperienced unknown.
