"You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances [at ‘60 Minutes’] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”
In addition to the Seinfeld commercials, Microsoft is fighting Apple by directly taking on the PC versus Mac ads. Can they turn the tide? Doubtful, but it's interesting to see them try.
Interesting that the slot ran during Big Bang Theory and made it look like Microsoft stands up the uncool character John Hodgman portrays in the MAC commercials (Bill Gates looks definitely help). Interesting marketing. "Screw those self-assured cool guy jerks, we're regular nerds just like you!" (of course there's all that crap about accomplished professionals, saving polar bears, etc.. but that just seems like window dressing to make to the spot last longer) Sort of a Gingrichian approach
My suggestion - it works a little without the corporate ubermessage "Life Without Walls" up in the corner. That works against the "regular folks" appeal and just reminds us that Microsoft is soulless titan of industry
Definitely. I'm not sure if he's the best guy to be advertising for Windows, but I guess they figured he had a "cool" factor--gotta be higher than Bill Gates', anyway.

Excellent commercial. Is the second-to-last guy Deepak Chopra?
