In One Era

Matt Welch, sounding like a lot of other people I know, watches President Bush's address and wonders if the era of big government is just beginning (or continuing?).

And it's not like the Bush administration (along with many others) wasn't aware years ago there were problems coming up, as this 2003 NYT article making the rounds demonstrates. Trouble was no one wanted to do much, and by then it may have been too late anyway.
