The latest TV ads touting Doubt have Meryl Streep and Viola Davis discussing their characters. This is odd, isn't it? Usually 30 second spots are there to say what a great movie this is, not to parade pretentious EPK detritus.

All right -- I've read this entry 4-5 times over the last couple of days, and I have to ask -- what is "EPK?"
Thanks for reading anything on this site 4 or 5 times.
EPK is an acronym for Electronic Press Kit--a promotional device that's been around since long before DVD extras (or DVDs). It's a behind the scenes look at a film, generally featuring above-the-line people spouting off about the importance of the project and their art in general.
