Answer

Someone got it pretty quickly. The answer the yesterday's question was the phrase is seen in elements 13-19 on the Periodic Table.

Another good question based on the same concept would be what's the next item in this series: B, C, N, O, F.... (Most people would guess "G")

Well, there are several arguably right answers once you identify the sequence- what am I missing?

The right answer I'm looking for is found on the Periodic Table.

Thats what I was referring to, I can justify three different answers that make sense though if forced to choose, I would say "P."

I don't see any right answer from the periodic table other than "Ne".

The progressive rock band Van Der Graaf Generator entitled one of their albums in honor of the nuclear reaction that is directly and indirectly responsible for all the (physical) energy that each of us thrives on:
H to He, Who Am The Only One.

Ne is the next element.
P is the next single-lettered element.
Si is the next non-metal.

I think the Final Jeopardy judges have to take any of them.

Of course G works on a more simple non-PT sequencing, but LA Guy eliminated that option (sort of) in his clue

Neon is not a metal.

It's a "noble gas" (think of that the next time you see a strip joint neon sign) However, the elements on the linked table refer to B,C,N,O,F" and Si" as similarly-colored and grouped "non-metals" while neon gets into another funky group
