Getting An Education

I was looking at The Learning Channel's schedule. When it's not Jon & Kate Plus 8 their shows are about people too sick or too short or too tall or too fat. Just what are we supposed to be learning here?

My favorite "now almost meaninglessly titled" cable channel is "The Travel Channel".

Two to three nights a week it's nothing but a traveling adjunct to "The Food Network", with solid primetime blocks of "No Reservations", "Bizarre Foods", "Man vs. Food", and a zillion shows about places to "pig out".

Then another night devoted to ghostbusting and haunted laundry rooms.

And another to theme parks, amusement parks, and water parks.

Really? They've run out of places to actually travel in the world?

Coming up:

A dead guy riding a roller coaster while eating a scorpion burrito.

Now that's travel.

Remember the "ARTS" network and when "Biography" dealt with important public figures. (Of course Phil Donahue used to interview major statesmen too before it became "Why won't he commit?" 5days a week too)

Guess a cable channel/syndicated show is expensive and in the end you have to to go for the goofy crap that draws the viewers and ad revenues and I guess haunted laundry rooms are more popular with the set that watches a lot of TV
