Biological Query

I was just thinking: bugs go around on their feet. Makes sense. So why is it when they die they end up with their feet in the air? (I just checked and someone asked this question years ago, but didn't get a definitive answer.)

When I see dead upside-down bugs, their legs are not straight. From this, I infer that bug-legs are hinged, like ours. In that case, it seems reasonable to suppose that, like our legs, their legs require muscle activity to assume a rigid position.

So when they die, their muscles go limp, which causes them to collapse. And then, since they are top-heavy, they often roll over.

Speculation, but sounds reasonable to me.
