At least Nimoy sings the second half of each verse. Shatner never sings; he only speaks. I have never been sure if he considers this art, or if it's actually tongue-in-cheek.
There's another way to look at it. At least Shatner recognized he was no singer, so did what he could. Nimoy recognizes no such limitations, and that's probably not a good thing.
