Get Off The Premises

I watched bits of The Marriage Ref a few times. Or should I say I left my TV on after the NBC Thursday night sitcoms and there it was. The premise is celebrities watch couples with problems and give their advice. Then the host of the show calls it for one side or the other.

I don't get it. Producer Jerry Seinfeld has used his pull to bring in some major celebrities. If they just sat around and talked I might watch.

I've left it on too. The main joke is -what idiots regular people are & how lucky we are to have witty wonderful celebrities to mock them.

Sometimes it works

I increasingly wonder about Jerry Seinfeld. I liked his standup and his role on "Seinfeld." I know he wasn't the primary writer for Seinfeld the TV sitcom, but the comedy seeme to flow naturally through him.

Since Seinfeld, he has put great effort into producing his new projects, and the two I know about were awful. Starting with Bee Movie, I remember reading how long hte simple animated film took to create, because Seinfeld insisted on fine tuning it. The product was terribly unfunny.

Now the Marriage Ref - di he really think this was going to take off? I could see it as a summer reality bit to fill some hours. But they pushed this show all through the Olympics, and even the ads couldn't explain why this would be fun to watch.

For me, I'm looking forward to a summer of "Last Comic Standing" and "Wipeout."
