Papa P
John Phillips, more than anyone, was responsible for the sound of The Mamas & The Papas. He wrote the songs and arranged the harmonies. Hard to believe they were only active for about two years.

I haven't ever seen a video where you can clearly see the two girls singing separately. Is Michelle the high voice at the beginning of "Got a Feeling"?
Like Paul McCartney, she has a face that simply doesn't age. On the other hand, while she wasn't as bad of a stepmother as John was a father, I do find their personal lives taint my enjoyment of their music. (An ancient debate, of course. I feel the same way about Wagner and Heidegger and Woody Allen, even though many do not.)
I believe both Michelle and Cass are singing together at the beginning.
I think Michelle is one of the most beautiful women of her time.
I'm generally able to separate my feelings for personal lives and the art they create, though some do make it hard.
Michelle's the only one left alive.
