"You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances [at ‘60 Minutes’] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”
Boy, I love Lynch films (and Twin Peaks on TV), but those two clips add absolutely nothing to my appreciation of his work. I could almost conclude that he purposely said nothing with as many words as possible in order to deter people from asking him about the meaning of his films.
Don't get me wrong, I believe there is a lot of meaning in Lynch's work; I just think he doesn't want to tell anybody what he was thinking when he made his films.
And this is cool - Verification word is "fireepti" - could this invoke "Fire, Walk With Me"
Lynch has talked and written many times about his approach to art, and it involves, as he specifically says here, meditation and "fishing" for ideas. While he may know what some of his ideas mean, the main thing is digging as deep as he can and summoning them up from the subconscious.
(I discussed his book on this a while ago: http://pajamaguy.blogspot.com/2007/10/deep-thoughts.html)
