Psychics Don't Want To Be Rich

Hey, the Amazing Randi just turned 83.  He has a standing offer of a million dollars to anyone who can prove paranormal powers.

We just saw Penn & Teller in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. They are my favorite magicians, because they constantly tell the audience that these are just tricks, and challenge the audience to figure out how they are done. Most of the tricks were too good to guess.

My son was picked from the audience for one mind reading trick, so I know it wasn't a plant. Penn handed out several joke books, and then invited audience members to pick one joke at random. Penn then recited the joke. In my son's case, I think Teller signaled Penn which page he was looking at (because Teller was in our aisle), which means Penn has memorized all the jokes in all the books he handed out. But with showmanship, it was really impressive. Later in the show, Penn demonstrated his enormous memory capacity with a nail gun that he alternatively shot into a piece of wood and into his hand. He showed how he had memorized the pattern of blanks in the strip of nails loaded into the gun, but it was still very impressive.

P.S. Teller spoke to my son, so he can speak!

Teller speaks plenty. He just won't speak as part of the act when you can see his mouth moving.
