Shopping Season

Happy birthday, William Tracy.  He had a negligible film career, but one performance of his deserves to live forever.  He plays Pepi, the delivery boy, in one of the best films ever to come out of Hollywood, Ernst Lubitsch's romantic comedy The Shop Around The Corner.

Of couse, Tracy, in a minor role, is just one of the many delights. The whole cast is at the top of their game, including stars Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullvan along with supporting cast Frank Morgan, Felix Bressart and Joseph Schildkraut.

Next week I'm having dinner with some friends and then we're going to watch the film.  It's good all year round, though it does have a slight Christmas theme.  Anyway, if you haven't seen it before--or even if you have--why not check it out this holiday season?
