Mellobo

Happy 70th, Lobo. He had a real name, but no one called him by that.

Back in the 70s, rock music had completely taken over the charts, but for people who missed the soft pop music of the past, there was a mellow sound that was widely available.

I'd love you to want me. Like Cheap Trick, but more impassioned.

I'd say it's wimpier. I want you to want me is a demand, I'd love you to want me is some guy whining in the corner.

"Want me, bitch" is a demand. Both are pretty wimpy. "I want you to" is a plea. "I would love you to" describes imagining if you did. Wimpy sells. Surrender.

Yeah, but Cheap Trick sings it like a demand, while Lobo sings it like someone expecting to be slapped.
