Don't look at me

"New hope seen in appeals court fight to nullify Obamacare" on the grounds that it is a revenue bill that did not originate in the House.

Perfection requires a 5-4 decision. Written by the Chief Justice of the United States. Upholding the law. On the grounds that it is not a tax.

The argument, if it ever needs to be made, is that taxing and revenue raising are not always the same thing. I 'm thinking of the death's head stamps the Reagan Administration touted for the tax on cocaine as part of the War on Drugs.

The Democrats did do some absurd parliamentary maneuvering to get this thing passed. Rather than have some reconciliation bill, as is the normal procedure, when they realized they couldn't get it through the Senate where'd they'd just lost a seat, they declared it deemed as passed, which left us this mess. The great thing is if the Supreme Court has the guts to overturn the law now (which it legally should) if the Democrats complain, the GOP should just say "hey, if people love the law so much just pass it again, and if you think we're blocking you then run against us on it."
