In a Cass by himself no longer
Cass Sunstein should watch out. George Clooney is moving in on his territory:
Now, because we’ve fractioned into little pieces, you go look for the things that reinforce what you already believe to be fact and don’t get a common truth.
I wonder what George's "common truth" would look like? But I don't wonder too much:
"Charlton Heston announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer's." . . . When questioned about the remark by New York Newsday, Clooney sputtered: "I don't care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him."
He says President Bush would fit in just fine with New Jersey's favorite crime family.
"The government itself is running exactly like the Sopranos," he tells talk-show host Charlie Rose tonight. Clooney says Bush has cut deals with France and Russia so the United Nations Security Council won't complain when "we go into a war [with Iraq] and kill a lot of innocent people."
"What did Bush do on 9/11? He ran away and hid. Even Reagan knew more about leadership than that, and he was as bad a symbol of America as I can think of, off-hand. But at least he's been in enough cowboy movies to know he had to come out and stand on top of the rubble and be seen shaking his fist or something."

Those Clooney quotes are from almost three years ago. I'm sure he's moved on to newer, dumber positions since then.
I say that it sounds just as wrong coming from a handsome celebrity as it does a law school prof. People do of course take in that which reinforces their own beliefs, but they also daily encounter that which challenges those same beliefs. AND SOMETIMES THEY CHANGE THEIR BELIEFS AS A RESULT!
