"You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances [at ‘60 Minutes’] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”
I think that the West would be willing to praise Israel if it were never aggressive or if it were decisively aggressive. It's the fact that it has been mediocre in its aggression that has caused so much of the criticism in the West.
The United States beat Mexico in a war, annexed their northern territories, and never discussed it again. People were upset for a year and then moved on.
If the United States had beat Mexico in a war, declared California and Arizona to be "occupied territories", and then every single presidential election had focused on the Open Question of "What Should Be Done With the Occupied Territories", then I guarantee the possibility of these territories being returned to Mexico or gaining total independence would have been talked about south of the Rio Grande year after year.
