Why Is This Man Smiling?
So the White House is upbeat about the Repubs' chances in November. I can see why--the one guy they know won't be ousted is George Bush.
I understand it's the job of Karl Rove to say all is well, but really now, can anyone take this seriously? If the election were held today, the Dems would take back the House and very possibly the Senate. Unless there's some significant change coming, the only question left is how bad will the thrashing be.

Maybe he knows something we don't know. More likely, he's fooling himself.
What are they supposed to be doing-wringing their hands and wailing of doom?
While what they are doing seems odd and distant it does seem to point to the case that when you have screwed up this bad, there aren't really any good options.
Of course they could all be smiling because Cheney is planning to circle the Capitol with tanks if the results come out wrong. You heard it here first
