Here, Here, Heroes

After a disappointing finale last year, I'd say Tim Kring's Heroes had a fairly promising second season debut. It's going off in a lot of new directions, and has added some new characters (while the old ones who might have died all survived), which can be tricky, but so far the new plots look intriguing. We'll see if it's going anyplace, but until then, getting there is the fun part.

I was pretty happy with the season premier. I would like to see Nathan a little disfigured from his close contact with Peter (but maybe that was what the glimpse in the mirror said - maybe he has been hurt some way). I was sad to see Nakamura (Sulu) bite it already - and I wouldn't mind him coming back some how. Glad to see Ted and Linderman stayed dead, though.

A lot of fanboys seem to be giving it a thumbs down, but it looked fine to me. They do seem to have trouble killing off the lead characters, but a secondary character like Nakamura is no problem. (I don't mind that he's gone--everybody being in on it in the first place was the most tiresome aspect of the first season's plot.)

It looks like investigating what's behind Nakamura's death will be a driving force of this year's plot. The question is how will all the heroes be drawn into it.

Also, one of our readers--perhaps it was Irene Done--predicted what would happen with Peter; that he'd have to lose his powers, or have some problems, because a fully powerful Peter is too boring, as he can defeat anyone.
