Get It Wright
So the Reverend Wright appeared before the National Press Club to explain his prior statements. And to no one's surprise, he had not been taken out of context earlier. As he explained in minute detail, all the ugly, stupid things it was claimed he believed, he actually does believe. He's just unhappy that we're not aware of the rich history and complex detail that's behind all his hateful nonsense.

LAGuy, do you agree with the floated theory that he is trying to hurt Obama now because if Obama is elected President the Reverend Wright's hate speech about America loses its power? I mean, how can he preach anti-American sentiments if an African-American man can be elected President of the United States? A twisted theory, but one of the only ones that answers the question "Why now, of all times, would you unleash Rev. Wright on the national press?" Or maybe he figures he's already cost Obama the election, might as well go down swinging? Either way, he seems very self-serving at this point, and undeserving of the loyalty and faith that Obama and his family have shown him.
Another member of the Boomer generation desperately searching for relevance. I would be shocked, shocked to find that he was being urged on by FOBs
Anon#2, forgive my ignorance -- who are you referring to as FOBs in this context? I know it in the context of immigrants and alcoholics, but I can't see either of those fitting with your post.
ohhhhhhhhhhh, friends of BILL. I get it. Little slow on the uptake today.
My guess is pretty straightforward. The Reverend felt he was being misunderstood so he wanted to set the record straight, that's all. It's self-serving, and he didn't particularly care whether it hurt Obama or not, but there's no complex bank shot theory (which wouldn't work anyway) behind what he did.
Nor do I believe that Hillary knows she can't win but is trying to weaken Obama so much that he'll lose, thus opening up 2012 for her.
