Safe

One of the pleasures of living in California right now is that we're such an Obama state that neither candidate is spending much trying to convince us one way or another.

Still, it would be nice if one of the Guys living in a swing state (you know who you are) might keep us apprised, from time to time, of the latest political ads.

I know the commercials are running fast and furious here in Colorado, because I barely watch commercial TV live at all (I use a DVR that cuts out commercials). But even I have seen ads for both sides. I have to say, the "Love of Country" ad by McCain is very impressive. It subtely plays the couterstroke to calls for "hope" and "change." Obama's ad about how he turned down high paying wall street jobs to work in his community after law school doesn't do much for me (most law grads don't go to wall street), but it may be effective on many.

Would you say the same is true of most Harvard Law grads? They send more than most schools into academia, but I'd say more than half go into BigLaw. Even higher percentages for Cornell and Chicago, if I had to guess. And in his case it's literally true -- he summered at one and had an offer for after graduation. No clue how that argument would affect those outside our narrow world.

"I was a lawyer but I got out"- very compelling for me.

Despite NH's status as swinger, I have not seen anything lately (at least on the Portland or Boston stations like there was during primary season)- I think a recall a few blandishments over the past month but nothing that stuck with me
