Casey Mills went on to explain that black is white and 2+2=5
"I suggest, you know, obviously, maybe they ought to be removed," [Sen. Charles] Grassley [R-IA] said. "But I would suggest the first thing that would make me feel a little bit better toward them if they'd follow the Japanese example and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say, I'm sorry, and then either do one of two things: resign or go commit suicide.
"And in the case of the Japanese, they usually commit suicide before they make any apology."
Grassley spokesman Casey Mills said the senator isn't calling for AIG executives to kill themselves, but said those who accept tax dollars and spend them on travel and bonuses do so irresponsibly.

Since Casey Mills is explaining what is obviously true, don't you have your headline mixed up?
The Spin industry heard from
So let me get this straight. You believe Senator Grassley was literally recommending executives commit suicide.
But to move beyond the flak talk, if you are AIG executive, of course you go for the bonus-there is no downside since any public reputation has already been destroyed by association with AIG in- might as well go for the big cash to ease the pain and fund the unemployment period. Of course, collecting a bonus under these circumstances might establish these guys on the street whenever the market comes back (he says hopefully). I can imagine the biz mag write-ups of 2015, "Although associated with one of the worst financial collapses in history, still managed to collect a $3 million bonus- what cojones! what a deal maker!"
I have no idea what the knucklehead really meant but that's what he said - res ipsa loquitor.
"And in the case of the Japanese, they usually commit suicide before they make any apology."
An interesting trick. I wonder how they manage that?
Reminds me of something Zoe said in Firefly, with regard to the the Reavers who were menacing the ship:
"If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins into their clothing. And if we're very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order."
