Simple Question
I'm a fan of 1960s beach movies, but I've always wondered something. How is it two short, dark-haired Italian kids became of the symbol of this West Coast lifestyle?

Geez, LAGuy, I thought your forte was Hollywood history.
Hollywood history, yes. Bizarre casting, no.
Isn't it as simple as they had some heartthrobs (I am assuming Frankie and Annette had preexisting reputations) and here was a chance to let their adoring fans see them with a lot less clothing on.
Another pure guess-Blonde blue-eyed Adonises may have been too off-putting for the crowd they were marketing to (More interesting to see the skin Boy and girl next door-types )
