Joan's Arc

I've been rewatching the second season of Mad Men and just came to "A Night To Remember." It's the episode where Harry needs a reader for his TV department. Joan fills in. Her talents, which are considerable, are fully put to use, and she's fully engaged. In the end, when Harry sees how useful the position is, he hires a man to do the job full-time. To add insult to injury, she has to train him.

It says something that of all the unhappiness the characters go through in this season (and the show makes them all suffer), this is the moment I remember most.
