Making The Rounds
Lately the writers on House have tried to shake up the formula a bit. Since I like the formula (and am bored by the House-Cuddy non-relationship) I haven't liked it much. But I did enjoy the most recent episode where, for a change, we followed House's sidekick, Wilson. This is an old trick--following secondary characters, or even guest stars, to watch from the outside what we usually see from the inside.
When Hugh Laurie first read for House, he thought he was the sidekick and Wilson was the lead. Who would think the crabby guy cracking wise is the lead?
You might think Robert Sean Leonard, who plays Wilson, would like the spotlight, but it's not like they're planning a spinoff. He's on record as saying he's quite happy to work less and pick up the same check.
