(Here's a great comment on YouTube: I was at my bank today and the tellers name was Carrie Anne. Knowing and loving the song/Hollies, I mentioned it to her. She blasted me on how the song was so offensive to her. I was totally taken back. I told her that I don't think the song was written as a personal attack on her. Then, I got the hell out of there. Wow, talk about sensitive.)
