&%$#^$ A!
Emma Stone leads the cast in the new comedy Easy A, opening today. The trailer, which seems to give the whole plot away, indicates it's a new take on Hester Prynne, where Stone is mistakenly thought to be an easy girl and so starts wearing a scarlet A. (Though how can she be committing adultery when she's not married, and neither are the guys?)
At the end of the trailer, they line up the names of all the actors:
Emma Stone
Penn Badgley
Amanda Bynes
Thomas Haden Church
Patricia Clarkson
Lisa Kudrow
Malcolm McDowell
Stanley Tucci
They take the A's in their names and color them red. So here's my question: Did they only hire name actors who had that letter?

Well its not that clever of a marketing ploy to kick out an otherwise good actor but I'd guess a statistical analysis would show that the percentage of actors without an A in their name is probably statistically insignificant and if they did want an A-less A-lister, and they really wanted the ad theme, they could just get cute -e.g.
Jim Smith, a very good actor
Of course if I saw a red "A" on someone's clothing, I wouldn't immediately think of Hester Prynne- I would think Type A personality (where A of course stands for Asshole)
In the mid-1980s, after ELP had broken up, Keith Emerson and Greg Lake needed a new drummer, and they found Rainbow-alum Cozy Powell. They spent the next year trying to convince every interviewer that they hadn't picked him just because his last name began with "P".

Good Point but Easy F probably wouldn't work as a title
Re ELP, it's like when Greg Brady got hired because he fit the suit.
