PSA Spray

There's been controversy over "No Pressure," a short film trying to drum up support for cutting carbon emissions.  In particular the first section seems to be causing the most trouble.

The creators of the film seem to be apologizing.  It's hard to say, though, that environmentalists feel that bad about it--the apologies I've read sound weak or self-serving.

Is it a mistake?  That's for individuals to decide.  I guess I'd suggest anyone who defends it to try imagining the exact same film being done on behalf of a policy that is allegedly of great importance but that one doesn't like (for example, fighting a war in Iraq).

Good suggestion, but people don't seem to be persuaded by that sort of effort ("Imagine if a Democrat/Republican had said that . . .")

Of course I admit I don't know what they're persuaded by.

These comparisons are always hard to make. You can always say it's not the same thing. But perhaps by analogy someone can realize how what they're doing looks to other eyes.
