Today's Peter Noone's birthday, lead singer--"Herman"--of Herman's Hermits.  They never got the respect of a band like the Rolling Stones or even the Animals, but there was a period there in the mid-6os when they challenged The Beatles for chart dominance.  At their height, they had six top ten singles in 1965.  Here's one of their two #1 hits.
