Barry Bostwick turns 66 today. In the 70s, he was one of the hottest actors on Broadway, getting three Tony nominations for Grease (originating the role of Danny Zuko), a revival of They Knew What They Wanted and The Robber Bridegroom (winning Best Actor in a Musical). Later, he appeared in numerous movies and TV shows. But he'll always be known as Asshole.
That's what the crowd calls him at The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Too bad, because he does a great job--he's supposed to be a jerk.
I couldn't find a straight film version of "Dammit Janet" (even the title doesn't rhyme), but here's an audio version:
And here's the visual, sped up:

I can't read what it says at the end of the first video.
THANKS FOR LISTENING RHPS FOREVER
Did you know Bostwick had a small part in the Glee-Rocky Horror episode a few months ago? meat Loaf too. They didn't sing, though.
Quite a tease. Why have two of the original stars, both fine singers, and give them nothing to perform?
Actually he's not an "asshole" just square and uncool and in the 70s it was cool to belittle the uncool with profanity and uncompromising hostility. Up against the wall and all that.
It was childish but I think in College I watched Barry's TV movie about George Washington (really really bad) in a TV lounge and folks in the know yelled out "asshole" at our founding father much to the confusion of the ordinary and patriotic. It seemed hilarious back then.
code word = "sweet"
