Not Plain

Jane Russell has died.  She and her breasts made quite a stir when they debuted in the Howard Hughes' 1943 production The Outlaw. But she was more than a sexpot, and showed a decent sense of humor starring with Bob Hope in Paleface and Son Of Paleface.

She's probably best known today for her personal favorite, Howard Hawks' 1953 musical Gentleman Prefer Blondes.  The most famous number is Marilyn's "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend," but Russell more than holds her own with the up-and-comer. In fact, critics looking back on the film seem more intrigued by "Ain't There Anyone Here For Love?"
