New House

I watched the pilot to Showtime's new comedy House Of Lies, starring Don Cheadle as the head of a consulting team.  They fly across the country trying to convince various firms they need Cheadle and company's help.  The show has a fairly cynical take on the corporate world, which is essentially painted as a scam where rich people extract money from the rest of us  The only reason we root for Cheadle, aside from his charm, is at least he's more up front about it.

This being on Showtime, there's plenty of sex and nudity. In this first half-hour alone, Cheadle is with three hot women and chases after a fourth (regular Kristen Bell). To humanize him, he's also given a family--his retired psychiatrist father and a young son who's exploring his sexuality.  His ex is a white, "psychopathic" woman who's also his main competititon in the consulting world.  Kind of incestuous.

The pilot wasn't that funny, but at least it was lively.  Outside of Cheadle, the characters don't seem differentiated yet. In general, it hasn't found its footing.  But I'll give it another chance before I give up.

Is that Jean-Ralphio from Parks & Recreation on the far right of the picture?

Jean-Ralphio didn't have much to do in the pilot. We'll have to see how his character develops.

Right now the most intriguing double role is Iain Glen as Sir Richard Carlisle in Downton Abbey and Ser Jorah Mormont in Game Of Thrones.
