Late To The Game
I was busy on Sunday and haven't had a chance to watch the season premiere of Game Of Thrones yet. I will make up for that as soon as possible, and probably have something to say about it, though I don't know if I'll have the energy to do a lengthy discussion, especially starting next week when we also get Mad Men.
Also, I just heard Mickey Rooney died. One of the last major Hollywood names from before the war. I'm not sure if I'll have time to do a longer tribute (he deserves something short anyway), so let me say this:
In his glory years--late 30s, early 40s--he was as big as star as there was. If some of his stuff today--especially the highly popular Andy Hardy series--seems corny, he still gave it his all, and truly sold the material. Better are the musicals he made then, generally with Judy Garland. They represent a true spirit and joy in performing that I don't think we've seen in a couple generations.
