I was surprised Variety didn't mention that survivors included Jack Black ( a son-in-law). (The NYT didn't either, but that kind of detail is probably beneath them.)
I only heard Haden live once -- at the Town Hall reunion of the old Ornette Coleman quartet in 1987. Great show.
I've only heard him on recordings. But then, I don't get out to jazz clubs too often.
