Dumb Squared

Sorry I can't find the web article, but apparently yet another authority figure has banned "Louie Louie." Some principal apparently won't let a high school band play it because of its "dirty" lyrics.

The song was written by Richard Berry. The lyric, about a Jamaican guy telling a bartender (I think it's a bartender) about his dream girl, and how he's going to get her, is so clean you could eat off it.

But what made the much-covered song famous, and notorious, is the classic version by The Kingsmen, which hit #2 in 1963. The rocking version was actually investigated by the FBI for its allegedly nasty words. Ultimately, the authorities declared (as if it were any of their business) that the song was unintelligible at any speed. This still didn't stop some from trying to get it banned.

This foolishness continues today, apparently. So, yet again, a principal has banned a popular number, that was never dirty in the first place, and was being played as an INSTRUMENTAL. As a former President once said, where do we find such men?
