"You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances [at ‘60 Minutes’] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”
Last night when I filled up, I noticed a new sign above the gas gauge: "Contains 10% Ethanol". I asked the attendant about it and she said they'd just been put up yesterday.
Here in Colorado these signs have gone up every Spring for at least a decade. In this state, they are related to the "oxygenated fuel" program, instituted in response to the growing smog problem in the Summer. For a while, stations had the choice of adding a chemical (mtb something - can't recall exact name), or ethanol blends. These fuels produce lesssmog producing exhaust, and were required or the Fed. gov't would have cut of transportation funds. then it was discovered that the chemical was winding up in the water, so now all gas stations have to offer ethanol blends during the summer. I do think our smog problem has declined - I don't know if it is a result of the fuel regs.

They've been doing that for part of the year here in NY and NJ for many years now.
Yes-during my weekly cross-New England peregrinations, I have noticed at every station- I thought that they had always been there.
