Plumber, from the latin plumbum, the scientific name for the element lead (abbr: Pb). At least as far back as ancient Roman times, lead was used for piping water to baths because of its malleability and ductility. Lead poisoning is suspected to have been one of the causes of widespread dementia among Roman leaders.
