Looking at the films to be released in December, when the Oscar contenders generally open, I'm surprised by how uninteresting most look. I hope to be surprised, but there's not a single title that really excites me.

The Day The Earth Stood Still looks intriguing.
I know nothing about it- what's the word? I assume its a remake of the Cold War "classic" Who is going to be ill in place of Michael Rennie?
Will it result in a boomlet for the music of Canadian band, Klaatu - at one point rumored to really be the Beatles? Probably not
Follow-up from the Klaatu homepage (klaatu.org)
"...Klaatu, the band, derived their name, first album title and the concept for their hit song "Calling Occupants" all from this seminal piece of celluloid..."
They complain about being left out out the movie and are quaintly asking their fans for a letter-writing campaign, eh.
Who's going to be ill in place of Michael Rennie? Keanu Reeves, that's who. Still interested?
My great fear is they will take a perfectly good sci-fi plot and turn it into an environmental parable. That would be unbearable to watch, and yet without knowing anything about the new version, I can almost guarantee that is the way they'll go.
...Ke-anu Reeves was mean
when the film turned green
but he showed us - he was a ham...
