Caroline, No

A lot of conservatives are claiming Sarah Palin was smeared while Obama was treated with kid gloves during the campaign. The latest seems to be Sarah Palin herself. (Look at all those comments. I'm jealous.)

She may be right, but there's a fine line between discussing unfair coverage and whining about it. If she wants to make it nationally, she'd probably do better to rise above the attacks and prove them wrong with her intelligence and composure (while her people can answer the cheap shots). Certainly she doesn't need to talk about how Caroline Kennedy is being treated.

She will need to demonstrate intelligence and composure. These qualities were not exactly in evidence during the campaign.

"determine why the news coverage was as dangerously slanted as it so clearly was"

Well, I guess I know the angle he's taking with that documentary, then.

Forgive me if I liveblog my reactions to this article, I'm just having way too much fun.

"Governor Palin, not yet fully put together, rushed out to tell myself and my crew to make ourselves at home."

Aha! So the towel story was true, and she's a repeat-offender.

They were, New England Guy. It's the media who tried to paint her differently, and succeeded.

Queens Guy, a documentary is allowed to have a point of view. In fact, isn't that usually the whole idea?

"how they live is no myth"
"everything about them seems 100% sincere"
"everything is exactly as you imagined"
"We saw the genuine Sarah Palin and it is patently obvious this is the only one who exists.
She is the real deal."
"she is also by far the nicest, most sincere and seemingly honest subject I’ve ever questioned"
"I attended her convention speech and consider it by far to be the finest I have ever personally witnessed"
"being a world-class cynic I also wondered if maybe there was at least some truth to the negative media narrative created about her."
"[if lying] she’s a far better actor (not to mention better looking) than the vast majority of actresses in Hollywood"

Sing it with me: one of these things is not like the other things.

You sure this wasn't ghost-written by Rich Lowry?

Conservatives will be thrilled to know . . . when she . . . saw the photo of Keith Olbermann, she literally let out a shriek and, pointing to his photograph, declared, “THAT guy is EVIL!”

Wow. If thinking Keith Olbermann is out of line counts as your best proof of her conservative bona fides, I just can't wait to see your scintilating interview, John.

Ok, fine, so I'm jealous of his comments too. I can hate the player AND the game.

Absolutely. That comment wasn't meant as criticism, just an acknowledgement.

This is for Anonymous. When SNL can and does write comedy sketches that include long, verbatim passages from her interviews, and these get some of the biggest laughs, she cannot complain about unfair treatment.

Have you ever read raw transcript? They could have done the same thing to Obama if they wanted.
