Stop The Commencement

Comedian Ben Stein has withdrawn as the University of Vermont's commencement speaker because of complaints about his critical views on evolution in favor of intelligent design.
UVM President Daniel Fogel said he chose Stein based on the warm response to a lecture he gave on campus last spring. Fogel said, however, he was deluged with e-mail messages from people offended by Stein's views of science.

1) Didn't know Stein was a comedian. Love to catch his act some day.

2) He might be worthless at giving science lectures, but does that mean he should be stopped from giving any talks?

3) I don't know the commencement racket, but I'd think Vermont could do better. (Or maybe Stein could. Like I say, I don't know the racket.)

4) Stein says: I am far more pro-science than the Darwinists. I want all scientific inquiry to happen not just what the ruling clique calls science. Think about it, Ben. The "ruling clique" declares astronomy science and astrology pseudoscience. Does that mean someone who wants to give a talk on astrology is more pro-science than those close-minded astronomers?
