Isn't That Special
This weeks House was a stunt show. Mos' Def played a patient with Locked-in syndrome, and since he couldn't communicate with others, much of the action was told from his POV, where we could see what he saw and hear his thoughts. (Ken Levine thinks they're ripping off his M*A*S*H episode, but it seemed closer to The Diving Bell And The Butterfly to me.)
In general, if I like a show, I like its special stunts less than an average episode. No need to trick things up if you know what you're doing. Too often they concentrate so much on what makes the episode special that what normally makes the show work is given short shrift.
On the other hand, maybe the greatest House episode ever was its Emmy-winning stunt "Three Stories."

These kind of shows give them a chance at winning awards, since they're obvious examples of originality.
