Nut House

I wasn't watching the House finale closely, so had to check out the final ten minutes a second time to see if I got it.

It's like this (SPOILER): last week's hook-up with Cuddy, and a bunch of other stuff, was just House hallucinating. Good side: The whole House/Cuddy thing was a bad idea, glad to see it's imaginary. Same for House's miraculous recovery, which made no sense. Also, nice to see Amber back. Bad side: This is the third finale out of five where the whole thing is House going out of his mind. What I've always liked best about the show are the cases, not the melodramatic arcs. Starting season six with House in a mental institution does not bode well.

Overall, season five was weaker than usual. One problem is the concentration on so many couples. It's one thing to allow secondary characters a private life, it's another to let them take over the show.

The other big news--the show married off Chase and Cameron. This is a classic jump-the-shark moment, except they essentially cut off Chase and Cameron from the show two years ago, so it hardly matters what they do any more.
