Tiger In The Tank

We're still in the middle of the story, but I don't think I've ever seen a reputation fall so far and collapse so completely as Tiger Woods'. He was one of the most beloved figures on the scene, and above controversy. Now he defines adultery.

Actually, I can think of one worse example of a reputation cave-in: OJ.

I think Tiger is emerging as more as a victim here as the amount of time spent on his all too human foibles (adultery is one thing- but with "hostesses" and idiots who appear on reality shows- guess judgment is not tested when you live in abubble?). Actually it kind of humanizes the robot though I'm sure not in the way his sponsors like.

I guess the media is happy though with this story and the party crashers it kept them from having to talk about healthcare or other impenetrable issues (bet Tiger wishes other things were impenetrable).

It took a violent murder charge to bring down OJ where here Tiger is being portrayed more as the recipient of violence (I can't write victim) as on the SNL skit.

This will be forgotten when the next guy gets caught

"Tiger is emerging as more as a victim here..."???

- Tiger stood up before his family, his friends, and his god and gave his most sacred promise that he would remain faithful to just one woman for the rest of his life.

- Tiger then proceeded to have ongoing sexual relations with (at most recent count) 11 women whom his wife clearly did not know about or approve of (for all those who would use the "hey, some wives don't care if their rich, famous husbands cheat" argument).

- While the media payback has been overwrought, so has the paycheck Tiger has garnered for years from the same media, i.e., his advertising revenues, which dwarf his golf earnings.

You reap what you sow.

And for those that think I'm probably some sort of abstinence nut, I'll point out that, like almost every guy, it's my dream to be able to play the field like Tiger did...

...but once you sign up for the "one woman" program, your horndog card expires.

And, yes, a person's word still matters.

In a poll of 100 American men, 40 admitted to cheating and 55 lied.

If the above is an argument in favor of cheating, let's extrapolate it:

"In a poll of 100 convicted murderers, 40 admitted it and 55 lied."

So I guess it's okay.

Only good joke I've heard on this one:

What's the difference between a golf ball and an SUV?

Tiger can drive a golf ball way over 300 yards.

I heard this one:

What's the difference between Tiger Woods and Santa Claus?

Santa stops with three "Ho's".

Heard it on a sports radio show.

I think Tiger has the chance now to become the bad boy of golf. He'll be just as famous and rich, ala Charles Barkley or Hulk Hogan (who also made a switch from good guy to bad guy icon).

I've written a joke but it's too disgusting to put in pixels.

The internet is forever. I'm just telling my friends.

If you want to figure it out yourself, think of some common golf terms.

That's the worst hint ever. You're telling us to write our own joke.

I'm guessing it might involve the words "driver" and "hole".
