I'm Telling Everybody!

I'm starting to get those year-end letters where people catch you up on the last 12 months. I understand the efficiency of the system, but I've always felt there's something impersonal about them.

A great joy is getting letters--or these days, emails--from people close to you who share their thoughts and lives, but the annual Christmas letter has little or no level of intimacy. Better than nothing, I guess, but it's still not the same thing as a missive meant just for you.
