Eric Rohmer

Farewell, Eric Rohmer. With so much concentration on the visual, many directors seem to forget the simple pleasure of watching people talk. The director of great films like My Night At Maud's and Claire's Knee, Rohmer generally showed real people in real circumstances. But even though his characters tend to be highly articulate, he understood that often what was most important was what was left unsaid.
